I'm hearing that last line in a campy Vincent Price voice- kinda like the legendary commercial he did late in his career for something or other, which ended with a fly hitting a bug zapper and Vinny intoning, "Isn't it wonnnn-derful?"
Rebecca Eaton, producer of Masterpiece and Mystery, talks about him in her memoir (which is wonderful, btw). His wife was even more of a rake than he was- I'll share one quote when I get round to reviewing the book in a day or so.
