We went back to Dogtown again on Sunday. Here are my pictures. Kind of a weird assortment, really.

The day before was rainy, and several paths had changed into streams.

From oddnewengland.com: "In 1892, a man named James Merry was killed on Dogtown Common by a taunted domestic animal and engraved stones mark the spot of the attack and where his body was found." Apparently this imbecile was "hazing" a bull, when it killed him.

Similar, but much better photographs at my wife's journal.

Date: 2006-02-07 07:30 pm (UTC)I haven't found any illustrations of old Dogtown, but I did read The Last Days of Dogtown which is a very evocative dramatization of daily life in the village. (life pretty much sucked)
I also just found this map of the Babson rocks today.
