It's so rare for [livejournal.com profile] cottonmanifesto and I to go out and see the city together, so our filing our taxes was a good excuse. Here's a set of pictures--all hers because my camera seems to be gone. :( But it's not all bad news...

Here's the view of the famous buildings from the train (the Boston rapid transit system, "The T," consists of trains that are subways, streetcars, and elevated railways--this picture is taken from where the subway pops above ground and becomes an el and crosses the river, just before going underground as a subway again):

Davis Square, Somerville, has some agressive pigeons. This one tried to make off with my thumb instead of the crumbs in my hand.

Creepy statues in the square beg for dumb tourist pictures to be taken.

There's a couple pictures that [livejournal.com profile] cottonmanifesto posted that I'm saving for later, for "365" project use. Don't go cheat and look at them or anything! Anyway, the tax lady had some good news, so we celebrated. Here's a nice Belhaven.

Thanks to my generous benefactors! The paid account is secure until around my birthday, when I'll pass the hat (or shake the dirty coffee cup) again. As I believe in Socialism, as long as I only have to socialize with people I like, I'll gladly reciprocate to any of my ljfriends who need the spare change, as well.

those two people in the "creepy statues" were a couple that owned an italian restaurant right on the square. when the red line's expansion was finished in late 1984, rents rapidly started to go up in davis, and shortly afterwards their restaurant closed.

ah, how many people i know who have lived here for 20-30 years, if not their entire lives!
