I doubt that anyone who might be reading this is a person who believes the bible is the literal truth (unlike, apparently more than half of the Americans surveyed. But if you felt like putting it to the test, or perhaps craved some self-contradictory information in case you need to blow up a logic-processing robot, here you go.

Newport wraps it up: "Several characteristics correlate with belief in the biblical explanation for the origin of humans. Those with lower levels of education, those who attend church regularly, those who are 65 and older, and those who identify with the Republican Party are more likely to believe that God created humans 'as is,' than are those who do not share these characteristics."

Non-believer. I've met the people who own this business at my Unitarian/Universalist church. Before I met them I ask them to sell "The Jesus Mysteries: Was the "Original Jesus" a Pagan God?" by Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy (I met Freke too). It's about how Jesus never existed. I thought you might like to look at this site if you haven't already seen it.

They are very cool people.

I believe it to be a compendium of folk legends from various cultures, containing some universal truths; but nonetheless a tool of patriarchal cultures to establish ethics and social order, and often to control women, in particular.

Not the sort of thing that a thinking being could embrace as truth.
Have you seen The God Who Wasn't There?
