In a way, I'm glad that this slush storm has come, to remind me why it is we MUST leave New England, as much as I love it (well, everything but the weather, and housing costs). I know "there's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing" but I don't own an arctic drysuit. I'm not going to start shopping for clothes at the same places as Coast Guard rescue workers and Bering Strait fishermen, but that's the only appropriate clothes for right now.

I would love to retire to San Diego one day. One of my uncles married a woman out there in the 70s, and about a dozen family members from Long Island visited him there and then just had to move there. In my dreams, I earn enough to retire to San Clemente (on the freeway up to LA), which is gorgeous, but the whole San Diego area is full of natural scenery as well as civilization.

I think they might have a zoo or a wildlife park or something over there, too, huh?

Yeah, Southern California is definitely on our radar.

I do seem to recall that there's a little zoo or two in the San Diego area.
