Hey, I wanna be "Shaun of the Dead" for Halloween this year (I know it's a ways away, it's my favorite holiday, I want to be prepared, dammit!), does anyone have a cricket bat I can buy? (Or know where I can get one cheap?)(cheap=<$50) Edit: Lets say 20 dollars or less (it's for a Halloween costume for gods sake--I'll make one out of an old hockey stick, cardboard and masking tape if I have to--but it would be nice to have a real one, in case the zombies attack) I'm willing to trade a machete for a cricket bat.

Oh sure, smartypants.

Did you make sure that they aren't just covers? That they aren't charging 40 dollars shipping?

Let's drive to Toronto to go to "Value Village."

Call me a cheapskate, but I'm going to hold out for a bargain. Every garage in America has an old baseball bat, one step from the garbage. I'm hoping that someone on my friend's list has a cricket bat that they don't need anymore.

$40 dollars shipping!

$40 dollars shipping. You magnificent Pennsylvanian bastard. I salute you!

There's a bunch of used sporting goods stores out here. Is there anything like that in Boston? There's also some sort of anglophiles store out here that I've never been in, as i have no desire for over priced tea and dry, tasteless cookies. If I get a chance, I'll poke my head in both places. Have you checked to see if there's a cricket team anywhere in your neck of the woods? I mean, you do have Harvard, after all. Maybe you could talk them out of one of their old ratty bats.

Now THAT's what I'm talkin' about.

What's Value Village?

The big box of thrift shops.

They like to build their massive stores next to charity thrift stores and give them a run for their money.

(by that I mean that every single Value Village is in the same plaza as a Salvation Army or Goodwill.)
