Disgusting substance of the day: The stuff left over in the bags after the mice and rats are taken out.

On this day in 365 Urban Species: Flowering dogwood. This is amazing to me, because, like yesterday's flowering crabapple, the dogwood is NO WHERE NEAR ready to bloom. It still looks like March around here, except that the migratory birds are already back.

Also, if no one has read it yet, I'm very proud of my essay on the domestic dog as an urban species.
