Kauai, part one.

Wailua falls (as seen on "Fantasy Island"). Sorry to have to put it in that context;
a million different tv shows and movies were shot on this island, for that exotic jungle feel
(without the dangerous animals and mandatory bribes of other tropical places).

We have a rather different view from our hotel balcony this time.
On the far right are a bunch of trailers--there's some kind of film crew here.
This morning there are two dozen cattle egret out on the lawn.

First mushroom of the trip (on a golf course).

For Alexis. I didn't see any lichen in Honolulu, but there's quite a bit on the rocks and trees of Kauai.
Three species on this igneous rock.

We spent much of the day near Kauai Lagoons Golf Course.
I probably couldn't possibly care less about golf, but this has got to be the nicest course in the world.
We had to hike through parts of it to access the shore (perfectly legal) and I'll show you that next.

Date: 2007-07-12 03:59 am (UTC)OK, i could ramble for days about Kauai. Can you tell?
Maui was fun, but a weekend was plenty of time there. Kauai... after a week I felt like there was so much still to see and do. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
See any chickens yet? :D
