New Soylent Screen Up!

In this installment I review Stephen King's Dreamcatcher, which borrows from many other stories, but innovates by having the main characters be telepathic, and by moving the scariest monster scene into the bathroom. I innovate by using the word "assweasel." (In the movie they use a slightly more offensive word.)

Whooof. In the waaaay discount bin already? I read the book and was interested in seeing the movie but it just slipped by which is never a good sign.

I did, although some of that was due to it being the rare book set in Nevada that wasn't set in Las Vegas. Very creepy, very disturbing , particularly in the beginning when it's dealing with the small town cop, with absolute authority within his tiny little dominion. It kind of falls apart in the end when the supernatural baddy is revealed, but a good read. Oddly enough, he wrote the story twice, the second time as Bachman using a lot of the same names and gimmicks but in a completely different setting.

Hmmm...odd...I wonder why he felt the need to write the same story twice?
