Antigua Humane Society

Last Wednesday I volunteered at the Antigua Humane Society. After I did some work, I took some pictures.

Most of the island's dogs are medium-sized slim mutts. This little rottie mix was the biggest dog waiting for adoption.

Of course, the pit bull mix was my favorite. This is Bruno, enjoying some time outside of his kennel.

There were cute puppies, too.

Puppies get to be housed in pairs.

This little goat, Painter, was very personable. He would approach any human he detected. He's mostly blind, owing to an accident with a chemical used in the dehorning process. He also tried to get in the building a lot. I've never seen a goat with this coloration before.
They have a dozen or so goats and sheep, two horses, three cats, and for some reason, about 60 donkeys.

While I was waiting for the family to pick me up, I sat on the walkway, and all of a sudden I was surrounded by donkeys!

This is the view behind the humane society. In the morning the hoofstock are let out the corral and they wander the large fenced-in property all day.
