I really like this picture that Alexis took, not just because of the cute dog in it. She took the picture standing in the Riverway, and is facing the block we live on. It makes me realize that 95% of the pictures I take within 100 feet of that spot are taken facing the other way. This really shows what my neighborhood looks like.

This is taken from our back porch, facing back into the center of the city block, toward what could be called a courtyard, but is really just a paved parking area. The colorful stuff down below is part of a neighbor's kiddie area, which may or may not be a gray market daycare.

This is the view from the Riverway, at about the Longwood stop on the Green line, looking toward the Back Bay.

Zoomed in a little you can see the Prudential and Hancock towers better.

This is Longwood Towers, a luxury condo complex that looks like a castle. The penthouse units must get amazing light from fiery sunrises like this one.

I always pictured you guys living in a divided single family hone, you know, like an old Boston Victorian mansion, divided into 4 housing units. Something like that.

Still, your neighborhood is very quaint...and that Jim picture is so incredibly adorable!

Each of us has lived in that sort of home in our times in Boston. This building is only three units, but it's a big stone apartment building on the corner, and looks like it's part of a huge complex. Like every place I've lived in Boston, the stairs to the basement are too narrow, the electricity is ancient and unpredictable, and there are draughty windows (though this place is much less draughty than most places I've lived).

Those big Victorians are beautiful, but heating them is like burning money.

Pretty pix :-) Not that they aren't always, but I almost always like pictures better with Victorian and Edwardian architecture in them.

Sorry I can't participate in your "take a photo today" challenges--I still use film.
