Nothing to see here

It's as warm as it's been all day, or as it's going to be all week, right now at 7 in the evening. I'm glad I took Charlie out to run around when I did. Tomorrow at this time every surface is going to be as hard as concrete, or covered in salt (which burns the dogs' feet).
And I just said on facebook, I should have spent 15 years as a car-driving, pork eating, whiskey drinker AND THEN switched over to being a vegetarian cycle commuter, not the other way around. I could use the change to a healthy lifestyle, but now my life is a little more comfortable. I'm not rich, but I can afford car insurance and whiskey. Why would I make my life less convenient just because it's the smart, healthy thing to do?
(These thoughts brought to you from my trip to the doctor, which made me feel much worse than I did when I went in.)

Date: 2009-01-14 01:05 am (UTC)I was face book chatting with my friend in Boston this morning and she said it was 8 there. That is 26 degrees warmer than it was here at that time :)
Let's all move to Austin!

Date: 2009-01-14 02:49 am (UTC)I hadn't really had whiskey until Alexis introduced me to it. Careful with scotch--if you get the cheap stuff (under 40 dollars a bottle) it can taste like liquid smoke. I like bourbon, which is a little sweet under the fire, and rye (which is kind of peppery and tastes real nice with ginger ale). Canadian whiskey is perfectly acceptable on a budget, even the kind that comes in a plastic bottle goes good mixed with coke or seven up. I've got no beef with Irish whiskey, but it doesn't taste much better to me than anything I can get for 2/3 the price. I also like any of the above plain on ice, but it took a while to acquire that taste.
Since you are a student of manliness, I can see you developing an appreciation of the stuff. I picture you with a bottle and a shot glass, drinking it neat.

Date: 2009-01-14 03:29 am (UTC)Well, that's very kind. I try to be a gentleman, but I feel like a dork most of the time.

Date: 2009-01-14 03:33 am (UTC)Apparently it's supposed to be 137 degrees below zero on Friday. Glad we're dropping by tomorrow because I do not plan on leaving the house for anything short of a fire on Friday evening and even then only maybe.
