Actually, it was more than just Charlie, but you'd hardly know it from my pictures. Can I help it that he's so photogenic and that I love him so? Cutler Park (click tag for many past adventures) is a big ol' swamp along the Charles River and Route 95/128. Awesome boardwalks.

We didn't go far enough to get to the big water, so we let Charlie play in this puddle (actually some overflow that blocked the path).

Jim had to get involved too!

He seemed hell bent on getting muddy.

And if that didn't do it, how about a rollaround in the dust? (Actually part of a bmx track out in the woods).

Out on the boardwalk, the cattails were knocked down in a way reminiscent of crop circles:

I decided that water probably did it.
Alexis thinks probably aliens.

Why do you think he was rolling in the dirt like that?

because it feels good. that's pretty much the reason dogs do most things.

many animals do it to stop being sweaty, the dust dries up the sweat so they stay cooler and more comfortable.

in charlie's case, i think he was probably doing it because nobody had a towel and he doesn't like feeling wet when he's out of the water. i'm not sure i've ever seen him do anything to cool down - he seeks out sunbeams to lie in on 90 degree days. :)
