In college we lived in a 100+ year old house and those things were everywhere. We came home to one the size of a hand on the wall. A few days before a room mate tried to convince us he saw something crawling around with "thousands of legs!!" and we all laughed at him. He was right, I guess.
Yes. Scared the living pants off of me when I lived in a tiny shoebox flat in Adelaide a few years ago.
That flat was also home to some of the creepiest looking crickets I've ever seen. I admit, before I knew what they were (or had convinced myself of what they were), I'd catch them and freeze them to show other people. And most of them were freaked out, too.
But yes. House centipedes, in my house. When I lived in the Hills, we'd get the normal kind (longer, reddish, significantly fewer legs, much less creepy looking).
that is a bad ass shirt. i have seen grown men shriek like little girls when they encounter those house centipedes. harmless but they are scary looking!
The "selling" part of me selling tee shirts has yet to be realized. I keep meaning to increase my stock with a few more novel creatures before I advertise, but it's not a high priority these days with the baby and all. I have a Cape Cod NaNoWriMo shirt that sold a few copies, but my general interest shirts are still needing attention.
Ooh, I love Scutigera! I've only ever seen one live one though, in a public restroom wash basin. They don't seem to be around my house- we only get Scolopendra....
we've had babies, lately. Even at 1/3" I have a hard time not smushing them. Oh and if you step on one barefooted, they're gooey and the leggy bits will continue to twitch. While stuck to your foot. I try to steal myself and not squish them. I try
My first encounter with one of these guys was quite comical. I hear my boyfriend screaming his head off for me in the other room so I rushed in to find a strange insect on the ceiling. I just grabbed an empty coffee can and climbed onto the nearest chair so I could catch it and take it outside. My boyfriend was holding the chair...which happened to roll, so when I slipped a little and the little guy almost fell, he almost knocked the chair over trying to run out of the room...Needless to say he still gets the silent treatment over that one to this day.

It is very cool, even if I have sales envy, since nobody has ever bought my shirt. But then I never marketed it.
