Cardinal in a tire track.


The oval tracks on the sides are rabbit. I'm pretty sure the four in the center belong to a fisher.

After growing up in Maine, where cardinals are kind of a rarity, it was weird moving to Ohio and Indiana--both states are just lousy with cardinals. I saw one today on the way home.

Saw my first "wild" ticks the other day, in the ear-holes of a (sadly moribund) Western Blue Tongue Skink...
