After growing up in Maine, where cardinals are kind of a rarity, it was weird moving to Ohio and Indiana--both states are just lousy with cardinals. I saw one today on the way home.

Neat! I'm still agog that I hadn't heard of Fishers until a few months back, thanks to a post from you...
Saw my first "wild" ticks the other day, in the ear-holes of a (sadly moribund) Western Blue Tongue Skink...
