I found urban wildlife before I even left to go to the field site:

English garden snail on my bike.

Spring Pond.

Unknown purple mushroom.

A class does some of their own fieldwork, at Ward's Pond.

I flipped over a piece of cardboard to discover...

Dozens of tiny snails.

An odd picture of an eastern cottontail. It's sitting up, alertly watching me as I take a flash picture.

I moved a soggy old denim jacket to find it riddled with insect larvae.

An unusually large millipede for our area. (about 2.5 cm)

Nope, I haven't identified the little ones, but I think they are our native woodland snails.

Hooray for snails! There are a lot of snails in my neighborhood, though it seems like less than last year.
