Capron Park Zoo!

Capron Park Zoo is a small zoo in Attleboro Massachusetts, near Rhode Island. It's the closest zoo to me that I hadn't been to yet (now York's Wild Kingdom holds that place), and a former coworker is a zookeeper there. In fact, I've met most of the staff from this zoo, owing to our regular zookeeper meet ups! I thoroughly enjoyed this zoo, which was clean and attractive, providing a lot of value for a relatively small space. Their lions look very different from the one at Franklin Park--a different subspecies I think.

Naples Zoo, keepers and their animals

One of the great things about Naples Zoo is that there are keeper encounters all day long, so you can plan your visit around them, and enjoy a rich educational experience. This two-toed sloth was brought out after a show that included a half-dozen species, three zookeepers, and a script with entertaining jokes as well as good conservation information.

Unusual urban wildlife of Costa Rica
Jul. 3rd, 2005 10:52 amThe tour buses were working their way through the streets of Limon, a town created by the banana industry, when they pulled over for no apparent reason. All of us tourists got off the two buses, and the guides pointed up at a tree in a schoolyard ringed by chainlink fence. High in the tree, a mother sloth and her baby were trying to sleep, but were roused by the commotion. Bracing against the chainlink fence with my Father's camera, I managed to get this picture:
