Gorilla birthday party

When it's one of the Gorilla's birthdays, the keepers decorate the exhibit and fill it with special treats and a cake (made of gorilla biscuits and yogurt). Kimani was born on November 24th 2004; she's a fully grown ten year old female gorilla now.

Here are Kimani's parents, Kiki and Kitombe, finding popcorn and other treats. Kitombe was showing amorous intentions toward Kiki on this day, but she wasn't that into it.
Rachel and Kambiri

Kambiri picked up a bunch of carrot pieces during the forage and then sat by Overlook One to eat them. Rachel said "gimme some of those carrots!" (Rachel had just thrown the carrots down to the gorillas a few minutes earlier, so I don't think she actually wanted them.

Kambiri just turned 4. Cute, isn't she?

Looking out my office window to ever deepening snow.

Gigi touches snow inside the Tropical Forest exhibit. It started as a snowman that the keepers made from 2 dozen 5 gallon bucket loads of snow. I didn't see what they did to the snowman when they first discovered it, but while I was watching the oldest and youngest gorillas were eating the snow.
